Summer is the best time of year to make fun memories with your family. Don’t let busy schedules keep you away from the people and the town you love most!  Here’s a list of some of our favorite Calgary spots that the locals and tourists enjoy.

Heritage Park Historical Village

Take a step back in time and explore Heritage Park with your loved ones. As Canada’s largest living history museum, there is so much to explore. The park offers an educational  experience for all within a natural, authentic setting. Performers in old-fashioned wardrobes go about their day and act out historical events for the public to witness and take part in.

Kids and adults have a chance to learn how life was like without modern day technology. Your group will have fun exploring exhibits, rides, shops, restaurants, gift shops, among other attractions. Be sure to stop at the Nightingale Colony House to learn  how to make homemade ice-cream the pioneer way—then taste your creations!

Calgary Zoo

Located in the heart of downtown is the Calgary Zoo, a wildlife conservation leader and one of the most frequented zoos in North America. There you can discover about 900 different animals from varying habitats all around the world—like gorillas, lions, red pandas, flamingos, penguins, rhinos, etc.

Traipse  on through the Dorothy Harvie Gardens during your visit, and be sure to relax with the butterflies in the ENMAX Conservatory. Beverages, concessions, and retail vendors are available. Daily programs give your group the opportunity to meet zookeepers and witness animal feedings, trainings, and more.

Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame

Children need role models to look up to and aspire to become. If you’re looking for a way to inspire young kids, we encourage you to plan a visit to Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. This facility is an international award winning and charitable organization with a goal of sharing stories of Canada’s greatest sport heroes with the public.

Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame is an educational, resource center with both indoor and outdoors areas and over 50 hands-on interactive exhibits, like sport challenges, touch-screen sport lessons, mini-theatres, and 3D simulations. Come celebrate Canada’s impressive sport history.

Studio Bell, Home of the National Music Centre

“The National Music Centre gives Canada a place that amplifies the love, the sharing and the understanding of music.” — Mission of the National Music Centre

Celebrating music with your loved ones is best done at the National Music Centre at Studio Bell. Travel through all five floors of exhibition—each with a different theme—and learn the story of Calgary’s music scene.  Get your groove on with interactive instrument installations and sing along in vocal booths.
