Ivan Babikov, Canadian Olympic Cross Country Ski Athlete
We are incredibly excited about our latest partnership with Canadian Olympic cross-country ski athlete, Ivan Babikov! He recently traveled from Canmore to visit us and pick up his new Lexus CT200h in Calgary.
We asked Ivan a few questions about his new Lexus and some of his other passions besides skiing.
Q&A with Ivan Babikov
Q: What are you enjoying most about the new Lexus CT200h?
IB: I’d say at least a couple of things; (1) the hybrid option—the way it’s quiet and has an outstanding mileage and (2) the “sporty” feeling of it and the ability to switch driving modes from Eco to Sport.
Q: Where would you like to take a road trip to in your new Lexus?
IB: During my racing season, I’ve been enjoying the drive to Canmore Nordic Center for training. In the summer time, I’d love to go to Victoria, BC. I hear it’s a very nice place. I know it’s far, but because my CT is a hybrid, I won’t need much gas!
Q. The Lexus of Calgary tagline is “Experience VIP Service.” As a partner, what does that mean to you?
IB: To me, VIP service means a service at the highest possible level that you receive in a comfortable, stress-free atmosphere at your convenience and by professional staff. It’s the way I felt treated at Lexus of Calgary.
Q. What has your passion for cross-country skiing taught you about life?
IB: During my athlete years, I’ve learned a lot about myself and life in general, but the most important is to know your goal and keep 100% focus on it. Work very hard toward it and never give up no matter what life throws at you!
Q. Besides skiing, what do you do in your free time?
IB: Being a Canadian National Team athlete is a full-time job. I’m training all year long. When I get free time, I’m spending it with my family. I have a beautiful family, and I love playing with my two sons. We play a lot of soccer and hockey, also sledding and skiing. We have lots of fun. But besides skiing I have a passion for soccer, and I play on Canmore United team in Bow Valley League in the summer.
