Q & A With Dave Howarth, Lexus of Calgary Parts Advisor

Q:  What makes Lexus of Calgary different from other dealerships in the area?

DH:  “Lexus of Calgary is the only dealership I have worked at in the automotive industry so I can’t compare too much. What I can say is that the more connections and friendships I make in the industry, the more I become aware of how unique it is to have an owner like Glen Rumpel who puts so much emphasis on taking care of his employees and treating them like family.”

Q:  What does a typical workday look like for you?

DH:  “My usual shift is 7:30am – 4pm, working on the back counter. My primary focus is making sure our technicians get the parts they need as quickly as possible to work on the cars at the dealership. When I am not serving our technicians, I take phone calls from our guests who need advice on tires or other general parts questions anyone might have. I also take calls from our wholesale customers who are working on other Lexus vehicles around the city.”

Q: What is your dream car?

DH: “Honestly, it’s the Lexus GS 350. The reason is that I am a bit of a tech geek and I loved seeing it be the first in the industry to have a 12.3” multimedia and navigation display. The second thing is this really fun video that Lexus made, showing off the GS 350 handling on an ice track in Quebec. The handling was really impressive and the videowas made a couple towns over from where I used to live in northern Quebec.”

Q: What do you do in your free time?

DH:  “Most of my free time is spent with my family. We have a three-year-old, a two-year-old, and another on the way—so it’s a busy, high energy time when I’m not at Lexus of Calgary.”

Q: What should first-time visitors know about Lexus of Calgary?

DH:  “Lexus of Calgary is about stopping to smell the roses. A lot of people think about dropping their car off and just showing back up when it’s done being worked on, which is totally fine and expected in this day and age. Those that have the time to spend at the dealership  get to enjoy a different experience. A few years ago we expanded the dealership and made our showroom, service area, and barista bar bigger. We did this so you could have more room to walk through and enjoy the innovations that Lexus is bringing in their new vehicles. Enjoy a variety of different specialty drink options at our barista bar and take in our new nail salon.”
